媽媽有一個好朋友，他們都說她是一個傻女人。她在很年輕的時候，就嫁給了學音樂拉提琴的先生。她為他生了四個兒女，並且本份地以教書作為她終生的工作。他先生天生有著藝術家的氣息，豪放不羈，於是在早年，就因為風流而把家庭放在一旁，並因為脾氣不好，偶而也對妻小拳打腳踢。她獨力地把兒女撫養長大，並且依著丈夫的意願辦妥了離婚手續，但這並未斷了丈夫與她一家的關係。丈夫仍在隨時想到的時候，大搖大擺的以男主人的身份出現在她的家裡。孩子們已經多年不跟父親說話了，但她不但容忍他，而且順從地照料他的三餐，這在旁人看來，似乎是一件不可思議的事情。
有一回我們一起吃飯，媽媽和朋友們當著她的面提起了這件事，她笑笑的說，丈夫因為前陣子突然中風，現在哪兒也去不成了。我很突兀的問她，難道不恨嗎？這樣的一輩子啊！她很平靜的說，她是個基督徒，認為這世上沒有什麼人是不可原諒的，忿恨的心傷不了別人，只是讓自己更難過罷了。她似乎陷入了沉思，眼睛卻是帶著笑意，然後慢慢的對我說：「當年他也給過我很多很多的快樂，那個拉提琴的身影啊………….」
生命中，總有一些值得原諒的片段，激盪著人們的心。
