亨利-普赛尔的《仙后》(The Fairy Queen)，是300多年前作曲家根据莎翁《仲夏夜之梦》的素材写的一部半歌剧。搞笑逗乐，场面辉煌，也就是当年的好莱坞大片，说的是人生就是一场游戏一场梦的道理。

正好这两天做了几个音乐链接：

1) 歌剧的开头序曲部分的四首纯器乐过门曲子，包括第一音乐的前奏和号笛舞曲(prelude & hornpipe)，以及第二音乐的咏叹调和回旋曲(air & rondeau)，为歌剧营造出氛围。听两三个小节你就知道这是普赛尔的音乐，风格太明显了。

2) 第三幕开头的一首咏叹调，‘If Love's a Sweet Passion’。

 

仙王奥伯龙和仙后提塔妮娅为了一件小事不和，奥伯龙决定要惩罚老婆，趁提塔妮娅睡着的时候将魔汁滴到她的眼上。於是仙后醒过来便疯狂爱上第一眼看见的那个人/东西，也就是那个长着驴面丑陋粗俗的“屁股”(Nick Bottom)。让老婆和别人好，自己戴绿帽子，这就是奥伯龙羞辱仙后的高招。这神仙的思维方式跟我们凡人就是不一样。

‘If Love's a Sweet Passion’，是仙后见到屁股以后红杏出墙时唱的一首深情的歌曲：

3) 第五幕里的另一首女高音咏叹调，欢快的、称颂丘比特的‘Hark! now the Echoing Air’。

 

故事发展到最后，一切阴差阳错都烟消云散，神仙夫妇的婚姻经受过考验，两人和好如初；人间被乱点的鸳鸯谱也给摆正了--赫米娅跟了拉山德，海伦娜跟了狄米特律斯，仙界凡间一团和气，皆大欢喜。

“Hark! now the echoing air a triumph sings.
And all around pleas'd Cupids clap their wings.”

这是难度很高的咏叹调，和《魔笛》中夜后咏叹调一样，在演唱会上女高音经常拿这首歌来BSO自己的高超技巧。
