i used PS 4.0 to do this. should be similar in higher
versions. basically, i added a text layer to the picture
layer, then embossed it, and in the "layer" window,
change the layer mode to something like "lighter" or
"dissolve" or whatever available (just play with them
and have fun), then reduce the opacity to something
like 30%, the reduction amount depending on the
outcome of the effect. there's nothing tricky, i figured
this out all by myself.:=)

so i heard that you swept all the western NP's in USA,
where are your pictures, huh?
