肝功能指數只梢微降了一點，就停在那裡不動了。我跟我的主治醫生討論之後，我們決定冒一點險，進行第七次化療。這次使用的藥物因為有造成膀胱出血的可能，注射時間長達十二小時，而且據說我的使用劑量是一般人的四倍，所以必須住院三天，以策安全。
這次我病房的主責護士是一個年輕的小妹妹，聲音甜美，笑容可掬，但技術卻不怎麼的。她提起勇氣在我左肩前人工血管的位置用力扎進一隻蝴蝶針，很痛，但是沒打上。推針推了老半天，正當她緊張得不知如何是好的時候，我的資深護理師來了。護理師看了看，要我忍耐一下，重新扎上一針，很快就沒問題了。那個小護士垂著頭整理好護理車就出去了。過了一會，她又精神抖擻的進來幫我量血壓、測體溫，然後小聲的對我說，剛才那一針沒打上，讓我白痛了一下，真是很抱歉。我突然覺得很尊敬她。
一個護校畢業的學生，在實習過後正式上線時，年紀一般不會超過二十歲。一個不滿二十歲的孩子，在醫院裡除了需要不斷充實自己的醫學知識以外，還得學習面對技術上的考驗，以及來自病人及病人家屬的壓力，甚至常常必須面對生死的問題，要是有任何疏忽，還可能造成醫療糾紛吃上官司。我的小護士在扎針的時後遇到了挫折，但她沒有時間懊惱氣餒，她在最短的時間裡重新拾起笑容，面對可能來自病人的責難與不信任，真的相當不容易。
這讓我想起了以前公司裡一個護士跟我聊天時談到的話題。她說她剛從學校畢業進入醫院工作時，除了要適應新環境不說，醫院裡的老鳥還會欺負菜鳥，每次大家最討厭做的事，通常都會落到她的頭上。有一回有一位男病人過世，由於他沒有親屬陪伴，於是就由護理站負責初步整理的工作。當時她只被交待了一句：「XX病房你去處理一下。」一進病房才知道是這樣的事。她說她當時一個人在病房裡害怕得不得了，沒有人幫她，她只好硬著頭皮邊跟死者唸唸有詞的說明她沒有惡意，只是要幫他清理更衣，然後顫抖著幫死者拔管、擦拭身體，並換上乾淨的衣服。往後的日子裡，看多了醫院內的生與死，也就漸漸習慣了。我想，對於一個年輕的女孩子來說，那過程的心酸，是旁人不容易真正了解的。
晚班的護士來交班，進來跟我打了聲招呼，她看我在寫東西，還特別叮寧我要注意休息。謹讓我向那些技術已經純熟的，即將純熟的，以及尚在努力想要純熟的白衣天使們致敬。
