很多人认为文字后半段出自圣经以西结书 25 章 17 节，但是查遍了几个英文圣经版本，包括上国外的网站查询，找不到任一个圣经版本有这段句子，只存在着类似的语句。例如 NIV 版本的本小节是 I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I take vengeance on them.


至于以西结书 25 章 17 节的中文和合本经文是：「我向他们大施报应，发怒斥责他们，我报复他们的时候，他们就知道我是耶和华。」
